וַיִּשְׁמְע֣וּ פְלִשְׁתִּ֗ים כִּי־נִמְשַׁ֨ח דָּוִ֤יד לְמֶ֙לֶךְ֙ עַל־כָּל־יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל וַיַּעֲל֥וּ כָל־פְּלִשְׁתִּ֖ים לְבַקֵּ֣שׁ אֶת־דָּוִ֑יד וַיִּשְׁמַ֣ע דָּוִ֔יד וַיֵּצֵ֖א לִפְנֵיהֶֽם׃
און די פּלִשתּים האָבן געהערט אַז דוד איז געזאַלבט געװאָרן פֿאַר אַ מלך איבער גאַנץ ישׂראל, און אַלע פּלִשתּים זײַנען אַרױפֿגעגאַנגען צו זוכן דודן. האָט דוד געהערט, און ער איז אַרױס זײ אַנטקעגן.
II Samuel
The Pelishtim heard that they had anointed Dovid to be king over Yisroel. All the Pelishtim went up seeking [to fight] Dovid. Dovid heard [about this] and descended to the fortress.

The Pelishtim came and fanned out acros the valley of Rephaim.

Dovid asked of Adonoy, saying, "Should I go up [to fight] the Pelishtim? Will they be delivered into my hands?" Adonoy said to Dovid, "Go up, because I will deliver the Pelishtim into your hands."
